☾DARK MODE, new banner decorations, plus our predictions for future bestsellers

Mar 2, 2026

It’s been a busy month over here at the Tome HQ, and we’ve been cooking on updates to make your book blogging experience even more fun. If you haven’t been on Tome for a while, it’s your place to find other book buddies reading the same books as you, and celebrate the life of being a reader through profile decoration and posting into collections.

Also, this weekend we are at StoryCon — if you’re in the area, reach out for us to find you for some Tome swag :)

Here’s what we’ve been up to, and shout outs to our amazing community who are incredible at customizing and decorating:

Dark Mode is Here!

Tome's most requested feature has been finished and shipped across Android, Web and iOS! To relieve your eyes of strain, head to your profile, the gear in the top left, then click on the Moon that says Dark.

New Profile Decoration Banners

Tome continues to be one of the most self-expressive places on the internet, and that continues with our recent banner release. Take a look in your profile customization button and you’ll see an option to upload a banner to decorate your profile. Have fun with transparencies and overlays, like this gorgeous example from @daci:

What are Tomies Reading? Our predictions for future Romance and Fantasy Bestsellers

On Tome, we get early insight into what books are gaining momentum, often well before they hit mainstream lists. That’s because Tome has over 100,000 (mostly fantasy and romance) readers.

Right now, the most posted titles on Tome are already recognized best sellers: Quicksilver, its new sequel Brimstone, and Alchemized.

But just below the obvious hits, a handful of lesser-known titles are climbing fast. These are the books Tome’s community is excited about right now, and based on what we’ve seen before, we think they’re next.

Here are our 3 predictions for upcoming bestsellers, ordered from already gaining traction to most niche about to be popular:

We Who Will Die, Stacia Stark

Currently #3,716 in Books and #3 in Romantasy.

On Tome, hockeymom2934 says: “I absolutely devoured We Who Will Die! This story is more about plot than world building but I was here for it. There were deadly trials, unique magic, forbidden romance, betrayal, and brooding MMCs.

Arvelle is a fierce FMC who will do anything to protect her brothers. She is drawn to not 1 but 2 brooding and dark MMCs who will burn the world for her. These characters are complex and have amazing emotional complexity.

This story is filled with witty banter, betrayal, twists, thrilling action, and angsty romance. If you love all of these then this book will blow you away.”

Good Spirits, B.K Borison

Definitely boosted by the holiday season, Good Spirits is a paranormal holiday romance. Currently #19,323 in Books and 2k in contemporary romance.

On Tome, readsleepcraverepeat says: “In a holiday romance I expect a bit of cheesy cheer, and while this one had plenty, it also came packed with tears (happy and sad). Nolan and Harriet had me giggling, eye-rolling, and clenching my jaw at times. While I thought the beginning felt predictable with its Christmas Carol basis, the ending had me invested and happily surprised. This story felt like sipping on a peppermint mocha - fresh yet familiar, sweet, and something to look forward to every holiday season. The best holiday romance i’ve read so far. Hyped accurately.”

Veil of Embers, Karla Molina

Currently #6,570 in Romantic Fantasy.

On Tome, belovedbird says: “Veil of Embers is a debut novel with a Druid magic system centered in Celtic mythology. The use of runes was very interesting and I liked that the characters each had types of magic that they really excelled in. I really enjoyed that each time a new myth was introduced, I was able to look up and find the real lore. That aspect really kept me intrigued.”
