Welcome to the Tome Marketplace!

You may have noticed a small change to Tome this last week, there’s now a sparkling treasure chest… tapping it opens the new Tome Marketplace! Our goal with Tome is to create a new type of social network, one that allows users to build on top of it by submitting their own custom personalizations.

Here are some important things to know about what this means for our Tomies:

What is the Tome Marketplace?

The Tome Marketplace is the home of all future app personalizations, from app skins (dark mode!!) to badges, to custom reactions. We have lots of ideas for ways that you’ll be able customize Tome, but for now, we’re starting with:

Profile Badges

Initially, we are starting with badges, which decorate your profile!

• A new selection of badges to add to your profile! You use Tome Tokens to unlock each badge.

  • Once you unlock a badge, it’s yours forever.

• [🛠️ coming soon]: We will also be introducing many other features, like ways for users to earn tokens and grant badges to folks within their book clubs/ARC communities/etc

Submission

• You can submit badges to us, and we will do our best to put them out as long as they follow community guidelines!

• When your badge goes live, you’ll receive a free copy of it, and be the first one to rep your new creation.

• Whenever someone unlocks your badge, you’ll get a share of the tokens used to buy it.

• Keep in mind that once you submit a badge and someone buys it, you can’t take it away from them. If you want to remove your badge from the marketplace, you can reach out to us at hello@tomebooks.com and we will make it unavailable for future purchase.

Additional Notes

• There is no pressure for any user to submit, purchase, or otherwise engage with the badges or marketplace. All paid features on Tome are cosmetic and non-essential for the experience of using the app. We do not expect everyone to participate, this is entirely optional.

This is a first step on a long path for us, we have plans to expand the marketplace’s features, over the course of the next year. We're trying to give you guys the power to customize and really make Tome feel like home, because Tome is home.
